Tomas Brenner, Dr.sc.nat., graduated in Physics from the ETH Zurich in 1988 and received his Doctorate in 1994, in the Department of Microtechnology, also from ETH Zurich.
1995-1997 he was a Post-Doc at AT&T Bell Laboratories, New Jersey, USA in the group of next generation optical telecommunication devices.
1997 – 1998 he was Engineer at Ciena Corp. , an optical networking equipment manufacturer, a fast growing start-up based in the state Maryland, USA.
2000 – 2003 he was Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at OCG Ventures LLC, an USD 250 Mio venture capital fund, focused on investing in Telecom start-ups in USA, Canada and Australia, based in Maryland USA. As their CTO he oversaw a portfolio of over 20 start-up companies. During this period he also held several interim management positions in R&D and in Product Management.
2004 – 2007 he was independent consultant, advising Swiss and Scandinavian Venture Capitalists and start-up companies. In 2006 he was co-founder of Nanotechnology company QuNano AB, a spin-off from the Technical University of Lund in Sweden. 2007 – 2014, he worked for Leister AG, Obwalden, Switzerland, initially as the head of Sales and Marketing of the Axetris Microtechnology division, later as the head of Product Management of Leister’s hot air and wedge welding products.
2014 – 2015 he was Innovation and Technology Expert with the Hightech Zentrum Aargau promotion agency, supporting small and medium size enterprises (SMEs) in realizing research projects.
Tomas Brenner has co- / author more than 30 publications in renown international journals and at international symposia and he is co- / inventor of 9 patents.
